  • Monster Trucks and Crayons for CASA

    22 April, 2009

If you ever thought, "there's nothing I can do to help like the CASA volunteers," you're wrong. The Scottish Rite Children's Hospital's Caroline Snodgrass works as the creative director on various projects with the hospital's patients - the children.

This week the crayons are busy shading, coloring, and blending the blues, yellows and greens as children, like a little boy named Austin draws his monster truck with fuel-flamed exhaust pipes in preparation for a debut with CASA's art gallery.

If you have an amazing gift like Austin with crayons and would like to help with Advo-kids, let us know!

  • Advo-Kids does Art

    2 April, 2009

The past few weeks the volunteers of the Fayette/Spalding CASA have been working together to plan a challenging but exciting fundraising event to support its current mission in the community. "This event isn't just about raising money," says Nancy Nebergall, the gallery operations manager and a CASA volunteer, "it's about raising awareness of CASA as well as our community through the arts."

CASA's gallery event will be called, "Metanoia: Change Your Heart." Metanoia is a Greek term that denotes a change of mind, a reorientation, a fundamental transformation of outlook and of man's vision of the world and of himself. The aspect of 'metanoia' which defers it most with the english 'change' is its focus and attention on the transformation of what one becomes rather than what one was. With the goal of CASA being to find every child a secure, permanent home, the theme behind change, especially in this day and time, is a common face. The gallery welcomes artists of all mediums and ages the opportunity to show their work. Exhibited work will feature internationally acclaimed fine art, regional artists and even CASA's children.

The Metanoia Gallery debut will herald on May 14 and continue through the month. Alex Clabo, of ReGroup Furniture Exchange in Tucker, has graciously invited CASA to host the event in his quaint but upscale boutique situated on Main Street where the art community is increasingly visible. ReGroup isn't the only sponsor of this event. Others include Xelk Visual Communications (Peachtree City), Custom Framing by Kelly (Tucker), and The Law Offices of Philip Coe (Fayetteville). Other sponsorship opportunities are still welcomed. More information on the event is available at www.metanoia-arts.com.
